The 2025 academic conference of Jiangsu Myology Specialized Committee was solemnly opened in Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Nanjing, on the afternoon of April 19,2025, the 2025 Academic Conference of Myology Specialized Committee of Jiangsu Association of Acupuncture-Moxibustion opened at Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. This conference focuses on cutting-edge theories and clinical practices in musculoskeletal science, aiming to build a high-level platform for academic exchange and promote the development and clinical application of musculoskeletal science in Jiangsu Province and even nationwide. Experts, scholars, clinical physicians, and researchers from across the country gathered to kick off this academic feast.

01  Leaders' speech: Drawing a new blueprint for the development of disciplines

First of all, Professor Fu Zhonghua, chairman of Myology Specialized Committee of Jiangsu Association of Acupuncture-Moxibustion, delivered a welcome speech. The chairman, vice-chairman and secretary-general of the committee came on stage to welcome the guests.

Professor Yang Longhui, secretary of the Party Committee of China association of Acupuncture-Moxibustion , Professor Xia Youbing, president of Jiangsu Association of Acupuncture-Moxibustion , Professor Guan Ling, director of the Acupuncture and Moxibustion Professional Society of PLA Traditional Chinese Medicine Society, and Professor Zhang Jianbin, vice president of Jiangsu Association of Acupuncture-Moxibustion , delivered speeches online and offline.

Party Secretary Yang Longhui first praised the courage of the Jiangsu Acupuncture Association in establishing the first Musculoskeletal Society. In just one year, the society has set up musculoskeletal departments in 18 hospitals across the country, which clearly demonstrates the effectiveness and vibrant vitality of floating needle therapy. He hopes that under Professor Fu's leadership, the Musculoskeletal Society will continue to achieve its goals and highlight the contributions of Chinese people and Chinese medicine to modern and world medicine.

President Xia Youbing's speech, while affirming the vibrant vitality of Musculology, expressed hopes. He hoped that as an emerging interdisciplinary field, Musculology would integrate the strengths of orthopedics, rehabilitation, and other disciplines, deepen basic research and clinical translation, and inject new momentum into the international layout of Acupuncture. At the same time, he extended an invitation to the Yangtze River Delta Acupuncture Society Alliance, hoping that Musculology could contribute wisdom and energy to the alliance.

Ms.Dong Yawen, a retired researcher of Nanjing Institute of Geography and Lakes, Chinese Academy of Sciences, 92 years old, found the floating needle through Deepseek and solved the problem that had troubled her for many years. 03 Highlights of academic excellence: Focus on the frontier and clinical

This conference features 17 special sessions, covering cutting-edge theories in myology, innovative applications of Fu's Subcutaneous Needling therapy, and interdisciplinary collaboration cases. Professor Fu Zhonghua also delivered a keynote speech titled "Ten Relationships of Muscles" (Nanjing Edition), systematically elucidating the interconnections between myology and anatomy, pathology, and rehabilitation medicine, and proposing a treatment mindset centered on the affected muscle.

04 Cross-border cooperation: Promoting the deep integration of industry, university and research

The conference invited several cross-disciplinary experts, including Zhang Jianbin, inheritor of the Chengjiang Acupuncture School; Wu Shihua, former chief physician of the Central Health Bureau and founder of "Wu's Shi Hua Orthopedics"; Liu Wentao, postdoctoral fellow at the Parker Medical Research Institute in Texas, USA, and clinical pharmacology director at Yifu Hospital affiliated with Nanjing Medical University; Zhou Liwei, chairman of the Taiwan Myositis Society; Sun Jian, dean of the Acupuncture and Rehabilitation College at Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine; and Ma Kunlong, visiting scholar at Waldkrankenhaus Hospital affiliated with Bonn University and deputy director of the Department of Orthopedics (Trauma) at Yongchuan Hospital affiliated with Chongqing Medical University, to jointly explore the international development path of myology.
