World Acupuncture Week in Action — Inaugural Free Clinic by the Myology Specialized Committee of Jiangsu Association of Acupuncture-Moxibustion
On November 17, 2024, Lu Jin and Wang Wentao (Deputy Directors of the Myology Specialized Committee of Jiangsu Association of Acupuncture-Moxibustion), along with Committee Member Wang Weifang, launched the Myology Specialized Committee's inaugural free clinic activity.
On the morning of the 17th, despite drizzling rain and a sudden temperature drop, the 2024 "World Acupuncture Week" province-wide collaborative science popularization event at Qingjiang Suning Plaza, Gulou District was bustling with enthusiasm and crowds. Among the highlights, the Fu's Subcutaneous Needling (FSN) free clinic area organized by the Myology Specialized Committee of Jiangsu Association of Acupuncture-Moxibustion drew significant attention, with visitors actively seeking consultations and queuing for treatments. We engaged the public through science outreach while simultaneously administering FSN therapies.
A middle-aged woman visited the clinic with lower back pain and stiffness. Examination revealed issues in her Erector Spinae muscles. After receiving Fu's Subcutaneous Needling (FSN) therapy, she exclaimed cheerfully: "Where did the pain go?"
A middle-aged man had long suffered from severe tinnitus and aural fullness, describing his ears as "blocked by a thick, heavy door." Examination revealed tightened muscles in his sternocleidomastoid and trapezius. Fu's Subcutaneous Needling (FSN) was administered, combining needle insertion with dispersion sweeping and reperfusion maneuvers. Post-treatment, he exclaimed: "It feels like the door blocking my ears has been opened!"
A middle-aged man presented with cervical discomfort and firm subcutaneous nodules in the occipital region. Examination revealed posterior occipital multiple folliculitis, with the nodules suspected to be enlarged lymph nodes. Tightened muscles were primarily identified in the sternocleidomastoid. Fu's Subcutaneous Needling (FSN) was applied, integrating dispersion sweeping with reperfusion approach. After releasing the tightened muscles, the patient was asked to re-palpate the occipital nodules, which had significantly softened and decreased in size. He also reported: "My neck feels much lighter now!"
Time flies when you’re hard at work. Before we knew it, the clock struck noon, marking the scheduled end of our public health outreach event. However, in the Fu's Subcutaneous Needling (FSN) free clinic zone, several patients still requested treatments. After a brief discussion, we agreed to extend care to one final patient—a middle-aged woman with tenosynovitis. Using forearm needle insertion with dispersion sweeping combined with reperfusion approach, her wrist mobility was restored within minutes. Amazed, she asked: "What kind of needle is this? How is it working so fast?" We grinned and announced in unison: "FSN!" Then, jokingly reflecting, we added: "We’ve been treating patients all morning, and they still don’t know the name of the technique? Our public education needs improvement!" The crowd erupted in laughter.
"Our goal extends beyond symptom relief during the session—we aim to empower patients to sustain long-term wellness." At the FSN free clinic, Qi-Blood Exercises served as a cornerstone of holistic care. We demonstrated four foundational movements, guided participants through practice, and corrected their suboptimal postures. Many remarked: "These moves are simpler than Ba Duan Jin! Even with light sweating, we feel energized!" Finally, we shared instructional videos of Qi-Blood Exercises from the FSN Global Platform, urging everyone: "Consistency is key to lasting benefits."

Amidst resounding words of gratitude, the inaugural free clinic event hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Acupuncture Association - Musculoskeletal Specialty Committee came to a successful close. Yet, truth be told, we owe our deepest gratitude to every participant! Acupuncture Week is not confined to a single week—we plan to expand FSN charity clinics to communities across the province and nationwide. To all patients who trusted us with their care: Your active participation fuels our mission.
