FSN was presented at the "Asian Oceanian Congress of Physical & Rehabilitation Medicine"
I had the honor of attending the 8th Asian-Oceanian Congress of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (AOCPRM) held in Chengdu from October 6-9, 2023, concurrently with the 2023 Academic Annual Conference of the Rehabilitation Medicine Professional Committee of China Non-Government Medical Institutions Association.
This academic feast featuring distinguished experts was truly enlightening, particularly Professor Chou Li-Wei's presentation on Floating Acupuncture from China Medical University (Taiwan), which provided me with invaluable insights.
Since learning FSN (Floating System Needling) five years ago, I have completed five apprenticeship stages and graduated successfully. I was also honored to establish an FSN teaching base in Chengdu, Sichuan, which has allowed me to continuously improve through regular instruction. While I wouldn’t claim to have memorized "The Compendium of FSN Medicine" word for word, I have read it over ten times.
However, my understanding of FSN still feels superficial in some aspects. For example:Post-insertion sweeping sometimes causes patients significant or even unbearable pain.Tightened muscle release is not always evident. After attending Professor Chou Li-Wei’s lecture today, I had an epiphany: The issue lies in the needle’s insertion plane. If the patient experiences discomfort, the needle should be partially withdrawn and reinserted until only mild or no pain is felt—this is the correct technique.
Today at the conference, Professor Chou delivered an inspiring presentation on FSN's developmental history, maturation process, and current advancements. The audience was electrified. Many participants raised questions, such as:"Is FSN primarily for pain relief?" "Does FSN follow traditional acupoint therapy principles?"
"Is it a 'where-it-hurts-treat-there' approach?"With remarkable patience, Professor Chou addressed each query in detail, eliciting frequent rounds of enthusiastic applause. The response was overwhelmingly positive.Sitting in the audience, I suddenly realized how fortunate I am—these were the exact same questions I once asked. How I wished I could proudly tell them: "Your present was my past."
Finally, I extend my deepest gratitude to Master Fu and Professor Chou Li-Wei for guiding me to discover FSN, fall in love with it, and grow through its practice—continuously elevating myself on this path.
The person I am today is no longer who I once was, for FSN has become my lifelong companion, empowering me to "roam the martial world with a smile" (笑傲江湖).
