Traditional Chinese Medicine Guards Growth, Together Building the Pillars of the Future
June 21, 2025, Marks the 15th "World Spine Health Day".
To advance the pilot program on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) interventions for adolescent scoliosis in our province and fully leverage TCM’s strengths in disease prevention, the TCM Department and Child Health Department of Guli Town Health Center organized a scoliosis prevention event at the town’s central primary school. Themed "Safeguarding Spinal Health, TCM Supports Growth," the initiative promoted TCM-based interventions to protect spinal health in children.
In recent years, the incidence of scoliosis among adolescents has been on the rise, significantly affecting children's physical and mental health. Guided by the TCM philosophy of "preventive treatment of disease" (治未病), this event integrated spinal health screenings, TCM-based interventions, and health education. It aimed to raise awareness of spinal health protection among youth, promote TCM-specific preventive approaches, and reduce the risk of scoliosis development.
First, the pediatric health specialist explained the causes of scoliosis and professional knowledge on spinal health maintenance.
Next, guided by the TCM principle of "preventive treatment of disease" (治未病), the TCM physician emphasized the "integration of movement and stillness" (动静结合) and "simultaneous focus on muscles and bones" (筋骨并重). They led students in experiencing TCM-specific interventions, including a live demonstration of "Fu Zhonghua's Qi-Blood Exercise" (符仲华气血操) by me, a FSN practitioner (浮针人), followed by a guided practice session for the students.
Parent-child activity: Learning the Qi-Blood Exercise together to strengthen core muscle groups
Fu Zhonghua's Qi-Blood Exercise is a therapeutic exercise program that integrates Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) qi-blood theory with modern Fu's Subcutaneous Needling(FSN) medical principles. Through specific movements and breathing techniques, it effectively regulates qi and blood circulation in the body, promoting functional recovery.
For early-stage functional scoliosis, combining FSN therapy with regular practice of the Qi-Blood Exercise has shown significant therapeutic effects.
The event was met with an enthusiastic atmosphere, and students participated with great engagement. This intervention not only helped students gain knowledge about spinal health and recognize the importance of maintaining a normal spine, but also significantly improved posture in those with mild spinal abnormalities.Moving forward, we will continue to collaborate with schools to provide regular spinal screenings and therapeutic guidance for adolescents, supporting their healthy and happy growth!
